It's Time For A Spiritual Breakthrough

HOW TO PRAY

Prayer is how we communicate with God. It is also how He sometimes communicates with us. If you view it simply as a conversation with God you can learn how to pray. A standard prayer, typcialy has four steps. These steps are evident in the Lord's prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13 and they are as follows:

Step 1
Address God

Open your prayer by addressing God (the one you are praying to). You can do this by saying "God", "Father in Heaven", "Heavenly Father" or your personal name for him (i.e. "G" "J" Jesus, Holy Spirit etc.)

Step 2
Thank God

After opening your prayer, begin by thanking God for anything you are thankful for such as provision, family, love, healthy, or peace. It may sound something like "Thank you for blessing me with my family..."

Step 3
Ask God

After thanking God and showing gratitude for what He has done and is doing you can then ask him for help. This can include anything you think you need (i.e. knowledge, comfort, guidance)

Step 4
Close In the Name of Jesus

Close your prayer by saying "In Jesus's name. Amen". This is said because he is our Savior, and the only way to get to the Father. Amen, simply means that you accept or agree with what has been said

For Difficult Times

Dear God, I don't quite know how to ask for what I need during this difficult time and I'm not sure how to pray. I know that you promise that you hear our prayers, so I stand in your promise. Please show up and comfort, support me during this time. I need your strength and your protection. Help me to overcome every single tactic that the devil tries to throw my way. Please help me to depend more on you. I ask for your joy and peace that can only come from your presence. Thank you for your love. I know you will never leave me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

For the Broken-Hearted

Lord, my heart is broken and I need you. I know that you are near to those who feel the way I do. Please rescue me. I hope in the promise of your Word. Please revive me and comfort me by your Spirit. Although I can barely breath I know you are the breath of life within me. Please help me and sustain me. I need your strength during times when I am weak. Bless me and my family with everything we need and rescume me from my despair. I trust you completely. I only delight in you. In Jesus' name Amen.

For Perseverance

Jesus, thank you for your grace. Please help me to see beyond my struggles. Give me the strength and wisdom to know how to wait on you. Help me to have faith during this difficult time. Help me to continue to run towards the mark the high calling you have for me. I know that you can renew my strength so that I can run and not grow weary. Renew my strength so that I can walk and not faint. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

For Self Control

Dad, today I ask for forgiveness of all the negative and harmful words I have spoken about myself and to others. I know that this is abusive and do not want to act this way again. Transform my thoughts so that I can understand the way you want me to think. Help me form new and healthy habits so that I can do as you would have me to do. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

For Your Children

Lord, I completely put my children in your hands. I relinquish my will in exchange for your perfect will. I know that you will care and protect them as your own. I can't go everywhere my child goes but I know you can. I know you will shield them from every evil device that is thrown their way. Please give me wisdom to be a good parent for them. Give me peace in knowing that you have good plans for them that will give them hope and a future. I love you and trust you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Loving Like Jesus

God, thank you for seeing me for me. You look beyond my faults and love me unconditionally. Please forgive me when I fail to love others the same way you have loved me. Please give me the ability to see the needs of difficult people around me, showing me how I can be a witness to them and show them your love. Show me how to treat others in a way that pleases you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

For When You Feel Unworthy

Lard, I am grateful that in Christ, I am chosen, holy and dearly loved. I know that I tend to measure myself according to the worlds standards or foolish comparisons. Please help me to recognize the devil's lies and refuse the temptation to rely on and believe in Your truth about me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

For Worry

God, I have been tempted to worry about so many things. Our world, my family and other things that concern me and do not give me rest. I am thankful that your Word equips and empowers me to live each and every day. I declare, right now in the name of Jesus, that you are my only Hope. Please help me remember that you really in control. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
