The Battle Is Already Won: Standing on What the Cross Secured for You

There are seasons in life when the battle feels too long. When you have prayed the same prayer for months. When the diagnosis has not changed, the relationship has not healed, the breakthrough has not come. When you have done everything right and still feel like you are losing ground.
This week, the Christian calendar observes Holy Cross Day — a moment to stop and remember what the cross of Christ actually means. Not just as a piece of jewelry or a symbol on a wall. But as a declaration that the most impossible battle in history has already been fought — and won.
And that changes everything for the battles you are fighting right now.
“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” — Romans 8:37
Not conquerors because life gets easy. Not conquerors because the trial disappears. More than conquerors through him who loved us — meaning the victory is not something you have to earn. It is something you get to stand on.

What the Cross Actually Says About Your Situation
The cross is not just about forgiveness — though it is absolutely that. The cross is a statement about power. It says that death does not get the final word. That darkness does not win. That the thing in your life that looks like an ending can become a resurrection story.
Whatever you are carrying right now — anxiety, grief, a marriage under pressure, a wayward child, a health battle, the weight of secrets and shame — the cross says God has already gone into the worst of it on your behalf. You are not fighting alone. You never have been.
The enemy wants you to believe your situation is bigger than your God. The cross says otherwise.
How to Stand When You Are Running Out of Strength
Overcoming does not always look like a dramatic breakthrough. Sometimes it looks like making it through one more day with your faith intact. Sometimes it looks like choosing to worship when you do not feel like it, choosing to pray when the words will not come, choosing to show up to the body of Christ when it would be easier to pull back.
That is not weakness. That is war. And you are winning it one faithful choice at a time.
The overcomers in Scripture were not people who never struggled. They were people who refused to let the struggle have the last word. They kept reaching toward God even when it was hard. And God met them — every single time.
You Do Not Have to Fight This Alone
At Abundant Life Christian Church, we believe that the cross is not just a historical event — it is a present reality. Jesus is still interceding. The Spirit is still moving. And the community of faith is still one of the most powerful places to find strength when you are running low.
If you are in the middle of a hard season, we want to walk with you. Our Christian counseling team provides faith-grounded support for people navigating the real battles of life — relationships, mental health, grief, transitions, and more. Come to Sunday service at our Manchester or Eastman campus, or join us online. Let the community of overcomers surround you.
The battle was already won at Calvary. You just need to keep standing.
