You Are Not Lost: Finding Your Purpose When the Path Isn't Clear

Somewhere between finishing school and figuring out what comes next, a lot of young people hit a wall. The plan you had — or the plan someone else had for you — doesn't feel right anymore. The job doesn't satisfy. The relationship fell apart. The city feels lonely even when it's crowded. And underneath all of it is a quiet, persistent question: Who am I, really? And what am I here for?

If that's where you are right now, you are not lost. You are on the edge of something.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." — Jeremiah 29:11

This verse is one of the most quoted in the Bible — and one of the most misunderstood. People use it like a hype quote. But read it in context: God spoke these words to people who were exiled, displaced, and confused about what their future held. He wasn't talking to people who had it together. He was talking to people who felt like they were in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with no clear path forward.

Sound familiar?

Your Identity Is Not Your Resume

We live in a culture that tells you your worth is tied to what you produce — your GPA, your job title, your follower count, your side hustle. And when those things stall out or fall short, it feels like you are falling short. But that's a lie.

Your identity was settled before you ever accomplished a single thing. You were known, chosen, and loved before you drew your first breath. God didn't create you to perform your way to purpose — He created you to discover it through relationship with Him. Purpose isn't something you find on your own. It's something that gets revealed as you walk with God, serve others, and lean into community.

Stop Waiting to Have It All Figured Out

One of the biggest traps young adults fall into is waiting. Waiting until they feel ready. Waiting until the path is clear. Waiting until they've healed enough, achieved enough, saved enough. But purpose doesn't wait for you to be ready — it meets you in motion.

Take one step. Show up somewhere. Say yes to something that scares you a little. Serve. Connect. Ask the hard questions in a space where people are safe enough to sit with you in them.

That's exactly what ALCC is built for. Our young adult community is a space where the questions are welcome, the journey is respected, and the destination is pursued together. Our Bible College isn't just for people who want to be pastors — it's for anyone who wants to understand who they are in God and how to lead in every area of life. And if you're carrying wounds from your past that are making it hard to see your future, our Christian counseling team is here — without judgment, without religion, just real support rooted in faith.
