The anointing is not just a gift to be received but a power to be stewarded and released. Flowing in the anointing involves active participation in God’s purpose, aligning our lives with His will, and walking in His power. It’s a dynamic process that requires faith, discipline, and love.
The Nature of Flowing in the Anointing
To flow in the anointing means to allow God’s power to work through you without obstruction. It’s not about control or manipulation but surrender. Jesus demonstrated this perfectly. His ministry was marked by compassion, faith, and unwavering trust in the Father. From healing the sick to calming storms, Jesus showed that the anointing operates through faith-filled obedience.
The key to flowing in the anointing is understanding that it’s not about us; it’s about God working through us for His glory. As John 14:13-14 states, “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” This highlights the importance of motive. When we align our desires with God’s will, the anointing flows effortlessly.
Flowing in the anointing also requires a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has given us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. A sound mind is disciplined, focused on truth, and immune to the distractions of fear or doubt. This mental clarity allows us to discern God’s direction and act accordingly.
Barriers to Flowing in the Anointing
The enemy often targets our ability to flow in the anointing by introducing distractions, fear, and disobedience. One common barrier is strongholds—mental or emotional patterns that keep us from fully trusting God. These can manifest as doubts about our calling, fears of inadequacy, or unresolved pain from past experiences.
Another barrier is conformity to the world. Romans 12:2 warns against being conformed to worldly standards, which dilute the power of the anointing. For example, prioritizing material success over spiritual growth can hinder our ability to flow in God’s power. The anointing thrives in an atmosphere of surrender, where God’s priorities become our own.
Finally, lack of love can stifle the anointing. 1 Corinthians 13 emphasizes that without love, even the most powerful spiritual gifts are meaningless. To flow in the anointing, we must love God wholeheartedly and extend that love to others, even when it’s challenging.
Reflection: Living in Alignment with the Anointing
Flowing in the anointing is not a one-time event but a lifestyle. It’s about consistently aligning your life with God’s Word and His purpose. Take time to evaluate your spiritual disciplines. Are you creating an environment where the anointing can flow freely? Are there strongholds or distractions that need to be addressed?
As you reflect, remember that the anointing is not just for your benefit but for the impact you make on others. Your life is a testimony of God’s power and love. Whether through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or stepping boldly into your calling, let the anointing flow. The world is waiting for the impact only you can make through Christ.
