When Life Gets Loud, Come Back to the Table

There is a moment in every family when everything feels like it is happening at once. The kids need help with homework, the bills are stacking up, and somewhere between the morning rush and the last load of laundry, you and your spouse have barely made eye contact. You are not falling apart — you are just living. But living, when it is not anchored, can slowly pull you away from the things that matter most.

Scripture does not promise that family life will be easy. But it does promise that when two or three gather in His name, He is there. And it reminds us that a cord of three strands — you, your spouse, and God — is not easily broken. That dinner table, that kitchen chair, that quiet Sunday morning — they are more than routines. They are the places where your family’s faith is built.

“A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” — Ecclesiastes 4:12

If you are a parent in your thirties or forties carrying the weight of raising a family while managing a career, a household, and everything in between — this word is for you. God has not forgotten your family. And He is inviting you back to the table.

The Drift Is Real — and So Is the Way Back

Most couples do not grow apart all at once. It is gradual — a few missed conversations, a few evenings where screens replaced each other, a few Sunday mornings skipped because the schedule was too full. Before long, what was once a house built on faith starts to feel like just a house.

The good news is that God does not require a perfect family — He requires a willing one. Coming back to the table means choosing, again and again, to make room for prayer, for honest conversation, for worship together. It means deciding that even on the hard weeks, your family will show up for each other.

Practical Ways to Anchor Your Family in Faith

You do not have to overhaul your entire schedule. Start small. A five-minute prayer at the dinner table. One evening a week where everyone puts phones away and talks. A Friday night devotional, even if it is just reading one scripture together before bed. These rituals may feel simple, but they are the seeds of something deep. Faith grows in the small, consistent moments — not just in the big ones.

Consider worshipping together as a family. When children see their parents praise God — not just talk about Him — they absorb that faith as their own. When couples pray together, research shows they are more connected, more resilient, and more forgiving of one another. The church is not just a Sunday stop; it is your family’s extended community, your support system, your village.

Your Family Is Worth Fighting For

At Abundant Life Christian Church, we believe that the family is one of God’s greatest gifts — and one of the enemy’s greatest targets. That is why we pour into families not just on Sunday mornings, but throughout the week. Our Christian counseling team is here for couples navigating hard seasons. Our Bible College offers tools to deepen your faith and pass it on to your children. And our community is waiting to walk alongside you.

You were never meant to do family alone. Come back to the table — and bring your whole house with you. Join us this Sunday at our Manchester or Eastman campus, or worship with us online. We would love to be your family’s church home.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. — Joshua 24:15
